First Days in Parliament

After travelling down from Wombwell on Monday, I've been given my first insight into Parliament this week.  It's fascinating to see the building and begin to find my way around, and the new Labour MPs were allowed into the House of Commons chamber itself for the first time.  But there's no time to be overawed.  It's somewhere I plan to spend a lot more time, giving Barnsley East its voice down here and speaking loud enough to make sure the Government can't ignore us like it has in the past.

Members will have heard the tragic news of the terrorist attacks in London last night, London Bridge and Borough Market. My thoughts are with all those killed and injured and to all the incredibly brave emergency service workers. Continue reading
