As part of the Parliamentary inquiry into the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme I hosted a virtual public meeting to give the Committee the opportunity to hear from miners on their views and experiences of the Pension Scheme.
I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended to share their views and everyone who has completed my survey and submitted written evidence. I also want to thank the NUM, Trustees, Scheme members and colleagues in Parliament for their work and support in what has been a longstanding campaign to deliver the inquiry.
I want to acknowledge the hard work that the Select Committee has put into holding this inquiry – with evidence sessions with the NUM, Trustees & members of the Scheme – as well as a session questioning the government minister responsible.
They will be publishing their report in the next few weeks.
In the meantime, more information about the inquiry can be found here.
