Questioning the Government on unsafe medicines and devices

Unsafe medicines and devices have caused years of suffering for women whose concerns and symptoms were dismissed as "women's problems".Many wait years for a proper diagnosis.I called on the Government to act now to ensure everyone's voices are heard in our healthcare system. You can watch my question in Parliament here.

Barnsley Pride

Today should have been Barnsley Pride, but it has sadly been cancelled due to COVID-19.It's a real shame that we can't be together this year - please do continue to follow the COVID-19 guidelines, and hopefully, we can be back together to celebrate Pride here in Barnsley soon.

Update on TV licences for the over 75s

Free TV licences help elderly people who suffer from social isolation and loneliness get through the day.I completely disagree with the recent decision and will continue to call on the Government to properly fund services for pensioners. This includes keeping TV licences free.Read more here.

Visiting Barnsley Foodbank

I visited and made a donation to Barnsley Foodbank in Wombwell. A huge thank you to all their workers and volunteers helping out at this time. The amount they are distributing to families in our community has nearly tripled since the COVID-19 outbreak started – if you can make a donation I know it’ll be gratefully received. You can click here for drop off points and items that are needed. I know they are always grateful for donations, particularly pasta, tinned goods, nappies and toiletries: https://barnsley.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-food/

Pressing the Government to provide funding for our local bus services

Bus passengers in Barnsley suffer delayed and cancelled services every day with timetables that are changed without warning.Following the publication of Dan Jarvis' South Yorkshire Bus Review I asked the Government if they will provide the funding to improve our local bus system.Read more on the Bus Review here, and watch my comments in Parliament here.

Update on Wombwell Post Office and Yorkshire Bank

Following my recent letter and petition against the closure of Wombwell Post Office, I'm pleased that the Post Office has now confirmed the branch will remain open at Heron Foods under a temporary postmaster until a new location can be found.Disappointingly, new locations have not yet been found for post office branches to reopen in Hoyland and Darfield. Restoring services in these areas is long overdue, and I will continue to push the Post Office to reinstate services in Hoyland and Darfield as soon as possible. You can sign our petition on this here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PostOfficePetition While I welcome the Post Office decision, I am incredibly disappointed that Virgin Money UK will be proceeding with closure of the Wombwell Yorkshire Bank branch on 3rd August. I will be writing to Virgin Money about this, and you can sign our petition here: cutt.ly/SaveYorkshireBankPetition(Photo taken in early March)

Fighting for our NHS

My mum was a nurse in our wonderful NHS for 40 years.I think it's one of our country's greatest achievements. Sadly, it's suffered a decade of underfunding and cuts.I'll always fight for our front line heroes and a universal health service that is free at the point of need. You can sign the NHS' 72nd birthday card here.
