It was good to meet virtually with the Police and Crime Commissioner, Chief Constable and Chief Superintendent Sarah Poolman, the South Yorkshire Police borough commander for Barnsley.

I passed on my thanks for everything our hardworking police officers and staff are doing to keep us safe. We also discussed COVID-19 and the challenges our police have faced during lockdown, crime and the current policing situation in Barnsley, the measures which are in place to support officers and staff, the role of Neighbourhood Policing Teams, and speeding and anti-social behaviour on the Dearne Valley Parkway.

As lockdown measures are eased over the next few months, I will remain in close contact with our local police officers as they work to keep local residents safe at this difficult time.

If there are any issues residents are concerned about and would like me to raise with the police, please do not hesitate to get in touch by emailing: [email protected]parliament.uk
