It was an honour to attend the Yorkshire Miners’ Memorial Service today at St Mary’s Church to remember all the miners who lost their lives going to work to keep our lights on.
I am proud of our heritage and the strength and resilience of our mining community. It is my privilege to stand with them.
We began the service with a minutes silence to remember Sir David Amess. An attack on one of us, is an attack on us all.
We remember him, his family and his legacy as a dedicated public servant for the people of Southend West.
