Major upgrade to rail in South Yorkshire This Labour Government has launched Northern Powerhouse Rail which will deliver the biggest travel upgrade in the North in a generation.
People across South Yorkshire have faced frustrating train delays, cancellations and a lack of connection for far too long.
That is why I am delighted that the Government have announced landmark investment so that communities across South Yorkshire can benefit from faster and more frequent rail links, better commutes, and better job opportunities.
Here in Barnsley, that will mean better connectively, particularly to cities like Sheffield and Leeds, as well as enabling better access to specialist healthcare centres, education, jobs, more business opportunities, as well as more choices for leisure and tourism.
