This week, I appeared before the Culture, Media and Sport Committee to give evidence on the UK’s approach to major events.
It was great to showcase the important work that the Government has been doing, and to continue our constructive engagement with the Committee.
The UK is a world leader, and we are building on that success:
🏆 Strong Pipeline: Hosting Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 and the Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup
💰 Major Investment: Over £500m to support events like UEFA EURO 2028
🤝 Lasting Legacy: £23m to unite communities and support young talent
🏘️ Local Pride: launching the Town of Culture
✅ Securing the future of the Crucible so that the World Snooker Championships remain in Sheffield until at least 2045
