Sir Michael Parkinson was a proud son of Cudworth and everyone in Barnsley was very proud of him. This morning it was a real pleasure to attend the unveiling of a blue plaque dedicated to Parky where his son Michael spoke of his father’s life and upbringing.
Even though he interviewed the biggest names in Hollywood, TV, music and sport he never forgot his roots.
Thank you to Cudworth History Group, Chewin t’Cud magazine and Barnsley Civic Trust for organising the plaque and arranging the event today at the Dorothy Hyman Centre where Parky himself unveiled a plaque for Dorothy Hyman in the early 1970s.
