In Parliament I spoke in a debate on support for hospices.
Hospices like Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Barnsley Hospice support families at the most difficult of times.
I focused my remarks on Bluebell Wood, who I have been in close contact with recently regarding the care they have been providing my constituent, Daniel, from Darfield.
I have also raised Daniel’s case with the Minister and at PMQs.
Bluebell Wood have reopened most of their services following a temporary closure last year.
However, their end of life care service still remains shut. I asked the Minister for her help in resolving this today.
I was pleased to speak in this important debate to call for government to support hospices by:
• Continuing the energy support grant;
• Continuing support for children’s hospice support grants;
• Introducing a more secure and longer-term hospice support.
