Today I met again with the GMB and Interpath Advisory to discuss the job losses at SafeStyle UK.

We discussed:

• Employees who have been made redundant and are waiting for payments.
• Customers who have paid for works to be completed with SafeStyle UK.
• Self-employed workers who carried out works for the company.

If you are an employee, you will likely be entitled to the protective pay award. This is compensation available if your employer made you redundant without consulting you. If you are an employee and part of the union, the GMB can submit a claim for this on your behalf.

If you are an employee and are not a member of the union, beware of those who might approach you to fill on the form on your behalf, but therefore take a cut of the compensation. Do get in touch with my office if you would like any clarity, as we can provide support.

If you are a customer who has paid for works with SafeStyle UK before they collapsed, the order book has been sold to another company, who have stated that they should be fulfilling existing orders as agreed.

If you are self- employed, I understand that you have most likely lost out on money that you are owed. You can find information on Interpath Advisory’s portal. You can access this here.

There will also be a skills and employability event at Wombwell Library on Wednesday 15th November from 12pm until 7pm for anyone who would like to find local opportunities for learning, training and work.
