The Data and Digital Infrastructure Bill was debated in Parliament on 17th April.

Though the Labour Party agree with the fundamental principles of the Bill, there is still work to be done to unlock the full potential of data innovation whilst keeping individuals protected.

Public trust in data usage & handling must be increased, particularly after the exam algorithm scandal that disproportionately affected areas like Barnsley.

Government must ensure protections against algorithms that might have the ability to sack workers & reject mortgage applications.
