It was a privilege to attend the unveiling of a lasting memorial to the 284 men and boys who lost their lives working in the Worsbrough Collieries- Darley Main, Edmunds Main, Swaithe Main and Barrow Colliery.
Thanks to Steve and everyone at the Worsbrough Industrial and Social History Society for their work establishing the memorial to remember all those men and boys who went to work down the pit and didn’t come home, and for organising today’s event alongside the Ward Alliance, local councillors and the National Union of Mineworkers.
There are stalls and activities taking place as part of Worsbrough History Day at the miners’ welfare until 5pm today.
